The second group exhibition by AYANO in collaboration with visual artists
An art event held at
“The Artcomplex Center of Tokyo” featuring 18 participating artists.
The theme was “life and death,” which is also central to AYANO’s work. Works expressed through each artist’s own interpretation, means, and methods were shown alongside AYANO’s music in a single exhibition.

Afterword
Our 2016 edition was received very positively, and we felt a strong response ourselves. We therefore decided to continue the “life and death” concept as a series within “Art Your Life,” and held it again in 2017.
This year, as many as 18 artists took part.
In the first edition, some artists declined due to the gravity of the theme “life and death.” So at first we were unsure about repeating the theme two years in a row. However, through many conversations with the artists, we felt that although “life and death” is a universal topic, people tend to avoid facing it in daily life—precisely why artists should actively address it. That is how we decided to carry the theme forward.
After the previous year’s show, we kept in touch with flower artist
ryukiyasui, who had exhibited in 2016. From that, the idea emerged to create a live flower arrangement in response to AYANO’s music in real time. It was their first attempt at such a performance, and they took on the challenge. Belly dancer Noilly, who also joined us again, stepped beyond the usual boundaries of belly dance to explore a new realm.
On day one, AYANO announced the release of our classical cover album “CLASSICS,” our first release in three years. On day two, we performed a set consisting only of classical cover pieces.
Unfortunately, day two was hit by a typhoon and we had to close about an hour earlier than planned, but we were able to conclude the event safely.
