"Art Your Life" – life and death – 2018

The third group exhibition focusing on the artists’ inner thoughts

An art event held at The Artcomplex Center of Tokyo, inviting ten visual artists. The theme, “Life and Death,” is also the central motif of AYANO’s works. The exhibition brought together artworks that expressed each artist’s personal interpretation through diverse means and techniques, along with AYANO’s music. In addition, an open artist talk was held, delving into each creator’s mindset and creative process.

Afterword

This third installment featured ten participating artists. Although slightly fewer than the previous year, the larger individual display areas—combined with the artists’ strong drive—resulted in a deeply compelling and substantial exhibition. Artist **Miki Hoshino**, who participated both as a painter and a live performer, joined the event after we happened to visit her solo exhibition. Upon hearing about AYANO’s activities, she immediately expressed her desire to take part — not only to exhibit but also to do a live painting. When asked whether she often paints live, her reply was an instant, “I’ve never done it before!” During the performance, neither side knew what the other was creating — AYANO could not see her work while playing, and the piece remained unseen until the end. Yet, once unveiled, the painting radiated her identity so strongly that experience seemed irrelevant; it was unmistakably a “Hoshino” work. Belly dancer **Noilly**, participating for the third consecutive year, performed this time with **Hikaru**, marking their first collaboration. The chemistry between the two was remarkable, and together with AYANO’s music and visuals, the performance achieved a rare unity between sound, motion, and image. On the first day, we finally realized a long-conceived idea: an open dialogue among the exhibiting artists. Moderated by VJ **Sodauso**, the talk featured artists **Tetsuo Iida** and **Juri Tsuchiya**, with **yj** representing AYANO. Centered around nine themes, the discussion went far deeper than expected, extending well beyond the scheduled time — and was met with great enthusiasm from the audience.
